The turkey poults have moved to their new home and are now enjoying their diet of bugs and insects while living on chemical-free pasture. They’ll enjoy the sunshine in their mobile coop while they develop into juicy, delicious Thanksgiving meals.

No big update with this post, just a pretty sunset through the oak trees and above the fruit tree orchard. As the sun sets on another day at the farm, tomorrow brings new opportunities and new projects.
We called in some extra help this weekend
For most projects around the farm, we’ve got the tools on hand. It’s not too often that we need to bring in outside help or to rent a specialized tool.

Rabbits on Pasture
Our New Zealand baby bunnies have gotten bigger and aren’t quite babies any longer. They’re enjoying their life out on pasture in our modified chicken tractor. The grass is nice and tall and they have a proper all-you-can-eat buffet of chemical-free pasture.

We’ve had our New Zealand meat rabbits for a little while now and last week we celebrated our first litter of baby bunnies. In a few months, these rabbits will be up to proper size to butcher and put a few pounds of delicious rabbit meat into the freezer.
Antibiotics: Food for thought
I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts the other day and interviewed a doctor about his latest book. It was a good interview and one point he mentioned stuck with me.
80% of the antibiotics produced are used on animals, not humans. Let that sink in for a minute… 80%.
Tractor Time
Every so often it’s more important to slow down and create memories than it is to be super productive on the farm. Today was one of those days. Papa came over to help with removing a large tree stump and after the work with the tractor was completed, he stuck around to give the girls a ride around the property on the farm tractor.
