A while back I was talking to my stepmom about the animals on the farm. She asked “what’s next?” and I talked about wanting to do a run of Peking Ducks at some point.
Fast forward several months and I’ve totally forgotten about our conversation. My birthday rolls around and I get a picture of a duck as my present. In a month or so, I’d be receiving ten Jumbo Peking Ducks from McMurray Hatchery.
They arrived at the post office this morning and we are now the proud owner of ten Peking Ducks. There are five drakes and five hens. The plan (at least as of now) is to process three of the drakes and make delicious duck breasts. We’ll keep two of the drakes around to breed. We’ll keep the females so that we can get some delicious duck eggs and over time, incubate them to make more baby ducks.
